For years I never thought twice about cold and flu season. But then I had kids. I went from not having had a cold in years, to catching every single thing that came along, and my toddler wasn’t even in preschool yet. What on earth was I doing differently? Once I began thinking about it, I realized I was missing out on something I used to take for granted: SLEEP.
It’s amazing how something so simple can be the cornerstone of your immunity as you know it. Getting enough rest especially during peak cold/flu season is crucial, but let’s face it we’re all too busy for our own good. It’s time to get serious about building good habits now, so come October we have a fighting chance.
As busy moms ourselves we did our homework when putting together our immune solution pack. Knowing nothing short of a holistic solution would do. So, the Immune Solution Pack was born.
It goes without saying, good habits heading into the colder months lay a dependable foundation for immune health. Lets start with your gut, if your not already on a probiotic, maybe its time to consider it. The gut holds a lot of the cards when it comes to overall health and is often referred to as the second brain.
Healthy gut flora is linked to myriad full circle immune functions. Including production of serotonin which triggers improved sleep patterns and mood stability. Aha! We’ve already come back to sleep, the link between healthy hormone regulation via the gut. Facilitating communication to your brain is paramount!
The next natural step to support yourself after improving gut health is to be sure you’re getting enough fat soluable essential vitamins. Vitamins A, D, E, K and C help build the mucous barrier to ward off pathogens. When this part of your system is functioning optimally, we can start to incorporate additional support by way of mushroom compounds. Beta-glucanes are the type of mushroom compounds that help modulate immune function. They are known to activate white blood cells in a regulated and balancing way to increase your systemic defense.
Lastly, of course I’m going to talk about staying hydrated and getting enough rest. This advise is as important and common sense as it gets. But as I’m sure you’re well aware its all to easy to neglect. SO, set yourself some timers and create healthy boundaries around your bedtime routine and rest where you can. This may even mean just stepping away from it all and getting some sunshine on your face for a few minutes while you do some light stretching. Whatever rest looks like to you, make sure you make time for it, you’re 100% worth it and your body will thank you.
Until next time,
